Vegetables Are Good For Fresh Breath
Now, you heard about the health benefits of eating vegetables a million times already, but fresh vegetables can actually be used as a halitosis treatment. Simply have some fresh vegetables at your disposal during the day. I like to cut a carrot into small pieces in the morning, put it into a small zip lock that is easy to bring with me, and then every once in a while I just take a bit of carrot and munch on it. It is important that you chew on the carrot as much as possible – it’s actually not so much about eating the carrot in this case, but about chewing it. This helps to prevent plaque, which leads to bad breath.
You don’t have to use carrots, that is just my personal preference – any vegetable will do.
Portable Water Piks
Water piks work really great to remove food residues from your teeth. There are portable water piks that you can carry around with you, and they are really helpful.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is very effective when it comes to eliminating bad breath. You can either brush your teeth with baking soda – but the taste is untolerable to many people. Or you use a toothpaste with baking soda in it. My favorite recommendation is mangosteen toothpaste baking soda – it’s a bit hard to come by, but can be ordered on ebay. Mangosteen has many benefits for dental health.
Stop Smoking
If you are smoking and have bad breath, that is just one more reason to stop it. Smoking does contribute to halitosis in several ways. I know quiet a few people who succeeded to stop smoking using hypnosis recordings from HypnosisDownloads.com. If you absolutely can not let go of your cigarettes, then make sure that you get proper amounts of vitamin C. Smoking can destroy vitamin C, and for smokers it might be worth considering supplements.
Vitamin C
People who don’t have enough vitamin C can develop all kinds of problems – one of them being smelly breath. Vitamin C can be used as a halitosis treatment because it helps the body to remove excess mucus, and different kinds of toxins, which can contribute to bad breath.
Don’t Starve Yourself
Being hungry can actually give you bad breath. This is often referred to as “hunger odor”. Now, if you are overweight and eating too much, please do not take this as a justification to indulge yourself even more. Eating fresh vegetables is fine. However, if you starve yourself, or skip breakfast, what happens is that pancreatic juices can pass into the stomach if you don’t give them something to do for too long (meaning: no food to digest). The pancreatic juices than decompose in your stomach, which leads to bad smell that goes all the way from your stomach to your mouth.
Last Minute Solution
I don’t really want to call this a halitosis treatment, because it’s rather a quick fix to get rid of bad breath just before an important appointment. Get hydrogen peroxide, and take a spoonful of it with a spoon of water in your mouth. (Should be 50/50). Swish it in your mouth for about 1 minute, then spit it out again and wash your mouth with water. Hydrogen peroxide releases free oxygen, which basically kills almost all the bacteria that cause halitosis.
I hope among all these, there was a halitosis treatment that suits your needs and works for you.
